Nordic Championship 2012


Nordic Championship for Cook and Waiter Apprentices were held this year in the World Design Capital Helsinki on 20.-21.4.2012. There were five Nordic countries competing in the legendary Perho Culinary School in the centre of Helsinki. Denmark’s outstanding performance was enough to win both the cooks’ and the waiters’ competitions.

 Students competing in Denmark’s cooks’ team were Kasper Kristensen and Camilla Bailey Steffensen, led by Flemming Dam Overgaard from Eucvest Esbjerg. The winning waiters’ team consisted of the students Christian Neve and Kristen Eyfjord Pedersen and their leader Kristin Kajhøj Ibsen from Technical School Silkeborg.

Nordic Championship for Cook and Waiter Apprentices highlight Nordic culinary skills and tradition as well as boost the image of restaurant industry. Students taking part in the competition are future top chefs and hospitality professionals. Cook and Waiter apprentice teams from Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway consist of two members. Every country chooses their team members in the national championships and the maximum age limit is 23 years.
